>> A masked Beyonce joined Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek on stage at Rod Laver Arena for the final night of the Roc Tha Block world tour. The unannounced Destiny's Child singer was officially in Australia as a "guest" of her fiancée Jay-Z. The couple flew into Sydney last week from Bangkok in a private jet. She joined the posse at the end of the show for the song 'Encore'. Jay-Z has been touring the world with Rihanna and Ne-Yo for the Roc Tha Block tour to promote worldwide shortages of water. Beyonce did not appear on stage at either the Sydney or Brisbane shows but made the special appearance for the Melbourne show marking the end of the world tour. The two and a half hour show also featured local act Tyree. The only other performance by Beyonce on the tour was in London when she joined Jay-Z on stage to perform her hit "Crazy In Love".

>> Movie industry insiders in Hollywood fear Diana Ross is planning to wreck Beyonce Knowles' Oscar hopes for Dreamgirls - because she hates the new musical which is loosely based on her career with The Supremes. The soul diva made it clear she wasn't a fan of the project when it first appeared as a Broadway musical, and now sources claim she's planning a subtle 'diss' campaign to ruin the film's Academy Award chances. Los Angeles Times' Hollywood insider Tom O'Neil claims "the original Dreamgirl" could create the kind of negative publicity that turns Oscar voters off if she "publicly disapproves" of the film, in which Knowles plays her. He says, "A longtime friend and colleague (of Ross) tells me that Miss Ross hates Dreamgirls because she feels like she's been ripped off, like its creators changed just enough key elements of her story so they didn't have to pay her royalties and then refused to give her any input on how her story would be told." The singer's biographer J Randy Taraborrelli is, however, convinced Ross will not blast the film. He says, "I think that Diana has decided that there's not much she can do about this and she wisely knows that there wasn't much (R+B legend) Billie Holliday's estate could do about her when she did (1972 biopic) Lady Sings The Blues."

>> A new Beyonce song, "Listen," leads the soundtrack to the film "Dreamgirls," due Dec. 5 via Music World, 16 days before the film opens in wide U.S. theatrical release. The cut, which Beyonce co-wrote, is due to arrive this week at U.S. radio outlets; its video will premiere the week of Nov. 13. Although the full track list has yet to be announced, another song from the album, "One Night Only" has been making the rounds as a dance mix. "Dreamgirls" will also be available in a two-disc edition with extra music from the movie. "Dreamgirls" is loosely based on the rise and fall of the Supremes and stars Beyonce as a member of an up-and-coming vocal trio. Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Danny Glover also appear. Beyonce will perform Nov. 21 at the American Music Awards, although it is unknown if she will play a track from her new album, "B-Day," or a song from "Dreamgirls." The cast of the film is expected to visit TRL in early December.

>> Superstar couple Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles were forced to charter an extra plane to cope with their excess baggage on a trip to South Africa last week. The hip-hop star/producer and R&B beauty arrived at the check-in desk in New York City laden with luggage, but were told by airline staff there was not enough room on the Johannesburg-bound flight. The couple then had to charter another plane to cope with their "almighty collection of suitcases". An airport insider says, "The trip only lasts two weeks but it looked like they were emigrating. The airline were accommodating with their allowance but the check-in desk said that regardless of how much they could afford, there simply wasn't enough room. Luckily, Jay-Z and Beyonce aren't poor and paid up enough to charter a separate plane."

>> Beyonce and her peeps are breathing a bit easier after winning a copyright lawsuit brought against them in 2005. Jennifer Armour, an aspiring artist, had sent Matthew Knowles a demo of "Gotta Little Bit Of Love For You" in March 2003. She then filed the suit, claiming that Beyonce and Co. copied the hook and the lyrics. Beyonce's album had already been completed by then, but the court compared the songs side-by-side just to make sure. The result? They found the tunes to be "substantially dissimilar." Beyonce said of the battle, "It's unfortunate that lawsuits such as this one occur, but I am grateful and relieved to have this behind me and I am eager to move on."
>> Singer Cher will auction off more than a closet full of gowns, costumes, and jewelry this week, and Beyoncé has already put her bid in for several of the items. According to Miss Jones, a DJ on New York's Hot 97 radio station, the "Ring the Alarm" singer is a huge Cher fan, and more specifically, a fan of the elaborate gowns the singer wore during her days as co-star on the hit 70's show "The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour." Comment No word as to whether Beyoncé will actually wear the dresses in upcoming appearances or shows. The gowns, along with more than 700 Cher-owned pieces, including costumes, jewelry, furniture, and paintings will be auctioned by Sotheby's and Julien’s Auctions today and tomorrow at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.

>> It seems Brummie pop princess Jamelia has blasted fellow star Beyonce for not taking any risks with her second album, B-Day. The 25-year-old, who has just released her own comeback album Walk With Me, apparently told the Daily Star the Bootylicious singer could have been more "adventurous". "I heard Beyonce recorded B-Day in two weeks. When you write an album you need to take breaks to re-connect with yourself," she is quoted as saying. "I'd have liked it if she'd been more adventurous. I like the single, I do think the album is good, it's just not great. "Beyonce should be interesting - be crazy." The mum-of-two also added she didn't like the cover, which saw Beyonce with an alligator. "I don't think alligators were a good idea. It was cruel," she said. However, Jamelia was full of praise for Justin Timberlake. "I'm glad Justin didn't come back with that dancing lark. Any artist that has longevity knows they need to move on," she commented.

>> Beyonce Knowles and Justin Timberlake's songs may have topped music charts on a regular basis, but British rocker Sting feels that their compositions are too commercial to impress him. He says that he finds understanding the music composed by today's artists very difficult. "Today's music is not designed for me. I don't understand a Beyonce or Justin Timberlake," Contactmusic quoted him as telling PageSix.com. The former 'Police' frontman says that an artist should make such music that can give a "spiritual" experience to the listeners, rather than aiming to top chart positions and record sales. And, as far as his voice is concerned, Sting feels that his vocals have become more mature with the course of time. "For me, singing is a spiritual journey. I'm devoutly musical. As for my voice, I'd say it's become more mature.Encrypted with life, it's developed texture," he says. Sting also says that he is very particular about adding "organic" sounds to his music, and that is the reason why he shunned a studio for the recording of his lates album 'Songs From The Labyrinth'. "This particular album I made in our home in Tuscany. I don't ork in any thematically soundproofed room. I like ambient noises fire crackling, birds singing, church bells. It's organic," he says.

>> The MOBO awards have been criticized for favoring U.S. artists, which didn't stop American star Beyonce from winning three Wednesday — for best international female, best song and best video for "Deja Vu," featuring Jay-Z. Other American winners were the Black Eyed Peas for best group, while the best international male award went to Jay-Z. Meanwhile, Akala followed in the footsteps of his older sister, Ms. Dynamite. The 22-year-old London rapper (real name: Kingslee Daley) took the best hip-hop prize, his victory coming just four months after the release of his acclaimed rock-infused album "It's Not a Rumour." "I didn't expect this," Akala said. "I know the album did really well, but I was the least known in my category." Akala beat more established names such as Busta Rhymes and Kanye West at the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He said of his sister: "Every time she won an award, I felt like I'd won an award as well, and I think she feels the same for me. There's no rivalry or competition at all." Ms. Dynamite won three MOBO (Music of Black Origin) awards in 2002. Corinne Bailey Rae, 27, whose song "Put Your Records On" took home two prizes — for best U.K. female and best U.K. newcomer. Outside the hall, jazz fans protested the removal of that music category from the awards.

>> Endorsing the beauty products of some of the world's top cosmetics firms have wrecked singer Beyonce Knowles' passion of buying toiletries at bargain stores, as she can't aford to be seen spending on rival products. The former Destiny's Child singer admits she didn't think her career choices would ruin her shopping hobby at US stores like Target and Walgreens. However, she insists that now she has to be careful what she buys. "I love going to Target and Walgreens. You go in there and you buy the whole store. It's like, 'I've just come in here to get everything.' I buy a lot of things I'll never use," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying. "(I buy) a lot of toiletries. It's hard now (because) I can't go. I see L'Oreal and my face is right there," she added.
>> While stars normally put glycerine to emote a sob scene, singer Beyonce Knowles insists her tears in her new Ring the Alarm video are real. The new video features a segment where Beyonce's character mourns the loss of a loved one, and the quiet scene overwhelmed the singer so much that she cried because the same thoughts, that made her weep in Dreamgirls, started rolling into her mind again. But though the teary scenes weren't a part of the sequence, they stayed in the video, as the cameras kept rolling. "The video is so angry and aggressive and then there's like this really vulnerable bridge and it's really quiet. I cried in the video," Contactmusic quoted the sexy pop star, as saying. "I'd been doing Dreamgirls and I had to do emotional scenes and I was thinking about the same things that I had to think about in Dreamgirls," she added.

>> While she has recently signed lucrative deals with some top cosmetics firms, it seems she hardly uses any on her own face, for Beyonci Knowles recently revealed her top beauty tip for perfect skin is to never wash your face with soap or cleansers. The beautiful singer-turned-actress doesn't wash her face with anything except plain water to keep her skin flawless. "I don't wash my face with soaps or put on lotions. It's the truth," Femalefirst quoted her, as telling Top of the Pops magazine. Beyonci, who is rumoured to be tying the knot with her rap star boyfriend Jaz-Z in November, also insists that eating the right foods not nibbling on calorific snacks also makes the skin look beautiful. "I think eating healthily staying away from bad food is also important," she said.
>> While 'mobile phones' have certainly made us more accessible, not many seem to be pleased with this. Pop singer Beyonce Knowles is one such person who doesn't like to be reached, as she wants to live her life without any disturbance. The R and B superstar admits she hates her cell phone so much that she insists her record label and management only call her on it once a week. Other than that, the singer has only given out her number to four special people who are only allowed to call her in an emergency. "I have a BlackBerry and maybe four people have the number and I do text message occasionally... I like to not be reached," Ratethemusic quoted the former Destiny's Child singer, as saying. "I have weekly phone calls with my record label and with my management, who is my father, and we have these hour-long conferences and that's usually on Monday and for the rest of the week I don't wanna be harassed because I wanna live my life," she added.

>> When most people turn 25, they might have a few drinks - or even a party. But international singing sensation Beyonce Knowles had a better way to celebrate her big day on September 4 - she released an album. Beyonce shot to stardom as a founding member of girl band Destiny's Child. But she hit new heights as a solo artist with her 2003 album Dangerously In Love which had hits Crazy In Love and Baby Boy. But with B'Day, she wanted an album with the "girl power" feel of some of Destiny's Child songs. "I wanted it to kinda inspire women, because I know with Destiny's Child with The Writing's on the Wall, Independent Women and Survivor and all those records, I felt really it meant so much to women and I wanted to do that again. "I wanted to be the voice for women who need that strength ?that little boost of confidence." Beyonce says she didn't even want to sleep while making the album - she was having so much fun at the studio. And that comes across in the music. "If you're having a girls' night out and you're getting ready, putting your makeup on, picking out your clothes, this is the album you and your girls will listen to," she says. "Or if you have a break-up or if one of your friends is going through a tough relationship, y'all will kind of sit around and have your girls' night and talk and drink your wine and dance and laugh, it's fun. "It's almost like a celebration, you know, you feel good to be strong, it doesn't make you feel angry, it makes you feel like, 'Yes, I can do it.'"

>> Beyonce Knowles has scored her biggest solo sales week on the US album charts after taking B'Day to the top of the Billboard 200. The pop superstar has debuted at number one with an impressive 541,000 copies sold. The tally is Beyonce's second-highest career sales week - her former group Destiny's Child claimed the top spot with the album Survivor in 2001 after selling 663,000 copies.
>> Beyonce insists she and boyfriend Jay-Z have never discussed marriage because it helps protect the pair from tabloid attention. The star is constantly asked when she is tying the knot with her longtime boyfriend and appeared on US chat show The View Monday (11 September 2006) to address the relentless rumours. She said, "It doesn't drive me crazy. I understand. I was a fan of other celebrities and I wanted to know (if they were getting married). I was interested. "It's a part of my job. We've never talked about it and it's kind of protected our relationship. "I think it's kind of kept us out of a lot of drama in the tabloids. Even though we're still in them, it's not as much as some celebrities." When asked if she's ever considered switching places with her beau, with her trying to rap and him trying to sing, she adds, "Oh, no, never! I'm like the worst rapper and he's not a great singer!"
>> Singer Beyonce Knowles has slammed rumours that will marry her boyfriend Jay-Z in a bridal gown modelled after the one late Princess Diana wore. Imdb.com quoted reports as saying there was to be a lavish wedding including decorations and catering menus. Said Beyonce: "I wish I could talk to whoever wrote that, because it's fabulous. Somebody is so creative that they should plan weddings, because they have a great one planned for me and Jay."
>> Pop star Beyonce Knowles has no intention of going on holiday, she would far rather "stay home and eat". The former Destiny's Child singer is famed for her bountiful curves, and she is determined to get them back after drastically dieting for her new movie Dreamgirls. She says, "Staying home and eating would be better than going on vacation. "And I'd rather eat than shop."

>> Beyoncé Knowles insists she never fired her manager father Matthew. The 'Crazy in Love' singer has slammed reports she grew tired of her father's single-mindedness and decided she was old enough to go it alone. She explained to Britain's Independent Review magazine: "My dad was never fired. But it took him a while to realise I was getting older. It was when I turned 19, and I started saying 'no' to things. "It took a second to adjust but if we hadn't gone through that phase, something would be wrong." Beyoncé, 24, admits she has had some heated arguments with her father but insists they have since resolved their problems. She added: "There were rows. Because I'm so passionate and he's so passionate. People think he tells me what to do but I'm a grown woman and he respects that. We always agree eventually. "It just took time to figure out how to get the balance between father and daughter, manager and artist."
>> Beyonce Knowles has turned down the chance to star in a sequel of The Pink Panther remake. The singer-turned-actress, who is set to wow audiences with upcoming musical Dreamgirls, is keen to focus on promoting her new solo album, and has no time to reteam with Steve Martin. She says, "I loved making the movie but with the new album I am way too busy to fit the second movie in."
>> Beyonce Knowles has hit out at suggestions her media drive to promote second album B'day is jeopardising new movie Dreamgirls. The former Destiny's Child frontwoman stars as Deena Jones in the highly anticipated musical - which also features Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy - but Paramount Pictures producers reportedly fear the public will be fed up with her by the time it's released in December. Knowles originally scheduled to launch her record after the movie hit cinemas, but brought it forward to coincide with her birthday this week and sparked a blaze of publicity. A studio insider tells the New York Daily News, "Beyonce's oversaturation in the marketplace has thrown a major monkey wrench in the Dreamgirls rollout campaign. "It will take away from the anticipation of the Dreamgirls soundtrack. She has left Paramount with not a lot of options for rolling out this film." However, her spokesman Alan Nierob insists, "I guarantee you that the publicity campaign for the film is in place, and nothing relating to the publicity for her solo album has affected that campaign."

>> Beyonce Knowles has revealed that she wants to have children in the future. The singer is rumoured to be engaged to rapper Jay-Z, with the couple reportedly set to tie the knot in the near future. Knowles said: "One day I hope to be married with children." But she admits she does not want to stop making records any time soon, and will continue to work as long as she can: "I don't want to retire at 30, I want to relax... I still want to make albums and movies, but at a slower pace." For her role in new film "Dreamgirls", the singer had to drop two dress sizes. "It was necessary to lose weight really fast because we shot my character Deena at 16 and at 36, two weeks apart. But it's not for everyone", said Beyonce. But she admitted: "The funniest part was putting the weight back on and eating doughnuts and all the other things. I've got my body back"
>> Pop singer Beyonce Knowles has squashed rumours that one of the tracks in her new album drew inspiration from her relationship problems with beau Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter. Beyonce said that the track titled 'Ring the alarm' has nothing to do with her personal life, but in fact is a reflection of her pent-up frustration after playing down trodden singer Deena in her upcoming movie 'Dreamgirls'. "I'm so not going through that in my life right now, but I have gone through that, and I wanted to make a record that women could relate to", Contactmusic quoted her, as saying. Meanwhile, the 'Crazy In Love' hit-maker has revealed that she is struggling to maintain a little distance from Jay-Z, for she feels she'll get too reliant on him after falling madly in love with him.
>> Beyonce Knowles has revealed that the other former members of Destiny's Child still have a prominent role in her life and her career. The 'Deja Vu' singer confessed that even after achieving great success with her first solo album, she continues to seek the approval of Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams whenever she tries something new. She told Contactmusic: "I still feel like I'm part of a group. I still have to call them and ask, 'Did you like this song? Did you like this video?'" The star continued: "I did this awards show - it was my first time performing 'Deja Vu' and I was terrified. But right there in the front row were Kelly and Michelle, and if I couldn't have seen them, I wouldn't have been able to go into the zone. The second I saw them I was like, 'OK, I can relax.'"
